New Gigger newsletter

August 16th, 2010

Eventually, eventually, our new Gigger newsletter hits users’ inboxes this afternoon.

Highlighting featured gigs, giggers and providing helpful tips for sharing gigs, we hope you’ll like it! Time permitting, the plan is for it to drop into your inbox every month!

This month’s featured gigger is surface_unsigned_festival, and the newsletter highlights 5 featured gigs from the website in July.

For those who are yet to sign up to Gigger, you can view the newsletter here:

Want to be featured in our new newsletter?

June 21st, 2010

In the coming few weeks we’re going to be starting a new, monthly email newsletter. As well as offering tips, advice and highlighting some great gigs, every month we’ll be featuring a Gigger user!

Whether you’re a band, singer-songwriter, photographer or general gig-lover, get in touch telling us why we should feature you, including approx 200 words for the newsletter describing yourself. And make sure your Gigger profile is up to date and you’ve added some good gigs!

So if you want us to do a bit of promoting on your behalf to all the Gigger users out there, then get in touch.

Like what you see? Then ‘Like’ it!

June 8th, 2010

New Facebook ‘Like’ button added to all gig pages, making it really easy to tell your Facebook friends about it. One click and you’ve let all your friends know.

Also, we’e added a more prominent Twitter button for quick tweeting about a gig.

All to make things easier for you to share your gigs!

Introducing short URLs

January 6th, 2010

We’ve begun to introduce new short URLs into the Gigger offering, meaning less characters in those tweets!

Meet http://gigr.it

You’ll see this short URL in use on gig pages for you to use elsewhere on the web to link back to that gig’s page. And we’ll use it when you share gigs on Twitter via the ’share’ link on the gig pages.

We plan to make more use of this short URL in the future – however can’t say too much about that at the mo!! In the meantime keep sharing your gigs and sharing the new short URLs on the web…

Au revoir!

Speedy Gonzales

December 12th, 2009

Lately we’ve noticed a few speed issues on the site, especially whilst using our site search. It’s something we’ve been meaning to address for a while and have now finally put some time in.

Following a bit of database tweaking and pruning you should now notice great improvements. We’ll monitor the speed and performance of the site over the coming weeks, however hopefully it’s all now speedy gonzales!

One small step…

August 4th, 2009

Finally after a few weeks of changes and testing we have put live our new, increased file size, video uploader!

Users shouldn’t experience any real difference, with the exception that you can now upload video files up to a maximum of 500mb.

Whilst still operating in BETA mode with plenty of wishes still on the list, we see this as one small step…

Testing large file uploads

July 15th, 2009

We’re currently in the process of testing the ability to upload larger video files to Gigger. We realise the current cap of 100mb may be somewhat constricting so are looking to increase this.

It has meant a bit of a rewrite of our Flash-based file uploader so that it now supports files in excess of 100mb. There will still be a maximum limit (yet to be decided) however should offer greater flexibility for you video makers out there!

As I said we’re currently testing this however we hope to roll it out soon… We shall post an update here once it’s live.

Steve.

A few small improvements this afternoon

July 11th, 2009

Whilst they’re not huge or are going to change the world, we’ve completed a couple of updates this afternoon that have been needing doing for a while and were niggling away at me!

  • When viewing a gig the web browser’s page title now also displays the gig’s Venue and City information to help improve location specific searching
  • When embedding a video away from the Gigger site, the player now shows the gig title when paused/stopped – so much better and should’ve done it sooner!

All go towards making user experience better ;-)

Our first Blog post – “hello”

July 9th, 2009

Okay, so we created a blog! The idea being we can keep you informed of all changes and updates we’ll be doing over time to the Gigger website.

You’ll probably notice that we’re running in Wordpress ‘Default’ theme at the mo… however we’re on the case. New blog design forthcoming (nothing fancy mind!). Just updated the design – simple, but does the job!

Other than that there’s not much to say right now. In the words of some US Governor, “we’ll be back”.
